Meat plants make up for about 30 percent of food and beverage manufacturing employees

According to the USDA, food and beverage manufacturers employ more than 1.7 million people total and meat and poultry workers make up the largest share of that.

Overall, 29.3 percent of food and beverage workers are meat and poultry workers, followed by those who work in bakeries (15.5 percent) and those who work in beverage plants (12.2 percent).

Manufacturing jobs include processing, inspecting, packing, product development, record keeping, janitorial services and more.
