Tyson’s Storm Lake, Iowa plant is closing temporarily after 22 percent of the workforce tested positive for COVID-19. The plant will finish processing animals already harvested but additional kills will not take place until later next week, after a deep cleaning of the facility.
Reports state that there are also cases reported at a Tyson location in Sherman, Texas, Abbyland Foods in Wisconsin, and several poultry plants in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
In Los Angeles, the union representing workers at a Smithfield plant call for the facility to close, after 10 percent of the workforce tested positive.
