Meet Maddie, the Arkansas Ag Experiment Station’s guardian llama

A new guardian is not taking any drama at the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station.

Meet Maddie, also known as the station’s new guardian llama.

Maddie protects around 70 sheep across 17 acres at the research center. She is only four years old but stands more than six feet tall. She helps keep the predators away and helps with daily care taking, like leading the sheep.

One of the animal science professors at the station says that the success with their guardian llama has been very good compared to before.
