Montana FB President on WOTUS: “Thought we had put a nail in that coffin”

Big topics in agriculture right now have been the center of discussion in Puerto Rico this week at the 2023 American Farm Bureau Convention.

One of those big topics is the Waters of the U.S. Rule. After the recent ruling from the Biden Administration, farmers and ranchers say it has muddied the waters again.

Tammi Arender spoke with one of the state’s Farm Bureau presidents about the topic.

“We thought that we had put a nail in that coffin, and now it’s back with vengeance. The rules that have been adopted just recently are going to cause some problems, cause confusion. We had a roadmap, we were following it, it was working for agriculture, and now we’re going to have a lot of other issues that we’re going to have to deal with. I really don’t think the federal government understands that,” said Montana Farm Bureau President, Cyndi Johnson.

The entire ag industry is awaiting the ruling in the Sackett vs. EPA ruling case to see what this will mean for the industry.
