NASDE on improving the effectiveness of the Farmers-to-Families Food Box program

U.S. state ag officials are recommending enhancements to USDA’s Farmers-to-Families Food Box program in an effort to improve effectiveness.

NASDA CEO Dr. Barb Glenn speaks with RFD-TV on their recommendations, how those changes would benefit the program, and the value of the program.

According to Dr. Glenn, “The Farmers-to-Families Food Box program was a critical tool during the pandemic and it continues to be... We are focused on a few things. We have sent a letter to Secretary Vilsack. One would be to increase the variety of products that can be in the food boxes. I think this expands more opportunities for our farmers and provides variety to consumers. Another area we mentioned was to try to reduce the impact on smaller farms and distributors.”
