This week, we observe National Suicide Prevention Week, a time to raise awareness and address the warning signs of suicide in communities, including rural areas.
Farming is among the top five occupations nationally in terms of suicide risk, a recent Wisconsin Farm Summit aimed to address this issue, focusing on vulnerable individuals facing injury, health problems, or financial difficulties.
The event highlighted the importance of breaking down the stigma around mental health and emphasized peer support as a key form of assistance.
One way to find that support is through the American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Together All.” A peer-to-peer support system, available 24/7, clinically moderated by trained professionals. In addition to anonymous conversations with peers “Together All” also offers personal assistance services, giving those interested access to tailored self-help courses.
