NCBA is helping lay out the steps cattle producers can take to prevent New World screwworm

The New World Screwworm, an insect once eradicated from the U.S. is back on the radar of the beef industry.

NCBA gives us a look at some of the steps cattle producers in south Texas are taking to stay ahead of the risk and protect their herds.

“We believe that it is just a matter of days or weeks... before we see New World screwworm in Texas.”
With the latest detection just across the border, animal health officials on both sides are intensifying efforts to contain the outbreak before it spreads further north.
“Continue to help us push the New World screwworm back to the Darién Gap and hopefully towards eradication.”
