NCGA VP on USDA Programs to Confront COVID-19

RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison interviews Brooke Appleton, the executive VP of the National Corn Growers Association, on what USDA programs farmers can utilize to help confront COVID-19 and navigate these uncertain times.

Appleton states that she has been telling farmers to really look into all risk management tools that are in place already. She refers to programs that were established by the 2014 and 2016 Farm Bills: Ag Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage. Appleton states that these programs act as a safety net for profit margins for farmers.

Appleton, also, stresses that farmers need to take a close look at their crop insurance and to make sure it works for both short-term and long-term.
