Nearly three-quarters of corn and soybean crops rated good to excellent

Corn and soybeans continue to be in good shape, according to the USDA.

On Sunday, 72 percent of the corn was rated as good to excellent. Currently, 92 percent of the crop is silking and 39 percent is at the dough making stage. Both those marks are above the five-year average.

As for soybeans, 73 percent of crops were rated good to excellent and 85 percent are blooming, which is above the usual pace.

Additionally, 45 percent of cotton was rated good to excellent, as was 76 percent of rice.
