A new bill is in the works aiming to make it harder for the federal government to sell off public lands. Supporters say it could protect as much as 30 million acres in the U.S.

The bill was introduced by Congressman Ryan Zinkey of Montana, who served as Interior Secretary in the Trump Administration. He says protecting public lands is paramount.

A groups of 20 senators is pushing back on the move saying policies should not exist that would weaken protections for public lands.
