Fewer grains will be moving out of one Argentina port this year after a historic drought took a hit on some of the country’s largest commodities, and the move put the spotlight on the United States.
The Rosario Grains Exchange shows the Port of New Orleans is the number one grains export hub. That pushed the Rosario port out of the number one spot, now behind the Santos port in Brazil.
Historic drought hit Argentine grains hard in 2022 and 2023, resulting in less shipping. Argentina’s grain production is on the rebound this year but insects are threatening corn crops, and weather could have an impact on soy output.
