A poultry growers group is backing a label claim dispute.
The American Pastured Poultry Producers Association agrees with Perdue’s filing with the USDA over a need for a clear difference between “pasture raised” and “free range” chickens and eggs.
The association says that this creates marketplace confusion and deception.
That filing also asks the Food and Inspection Service to update its guidance on poultry living conditions so they better match what consumers want.
