Now is the time to sell soybeans to China

American farmers are once again reaping the benefits of China’s large appetite for soybeans.

A new USDA report show China is now the biggest buyer of ag products and one ag economist says that now is the time to sell to China, while Brazil’s bean stock are being depleted and trade tensions ease.

In recent months, China has bought more soybeans to feed to an increasing hog herd, as it works to rebuild after African swine fever hit.

The country’s farmers credit the herd rebound to a change up in breeding genetics.

In August, the number of sows jumped by 40 percent. The move pushed pork output to the country’s highest level since 2018. Some farmers even go as far as to say that China’s herd rebound is done, which could be a good sign for U.S. grain exports.
