NPPC’s reaction to USDA having oversight for gene-edited livestock
The Trump Administration announces its intention for the USDA to have primary oversight over gene-edited livestock.
The National Pork Producers Council’s Dr. Dan Kovich speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on why they advocated for this, the benefits of USDA taking over, and what are the next steps.
“The FDA’s old paradigm of regulating livestock that have been genetically edited or changed with other technologies really needed to go,” Dr. Kovich states. “We really needed one agency handling all agricultural applications of both plants and animals and that agency just has to be the USDA.”
