For the first time, scientists have grown plants in soil from the moon!
Researchers planted thale cress in the soil that was collected by NASA’s Apollo astronauts. The good news is all of the seeds sprouted. The bad news is after the first week, the lunar soil stressed the weeds so much that they grew slower than the seed planted in fake moon dirt from Earth.
Most of the plants ended up stunted. However, scientists say that this is still a big step forward for science in space.
