Details on round two of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program are expected today. President Donald Trump announced the aid at a rally in rural Wisconsin last night.
Reuters reports that the application windows could open Monday. The amount certain commodities will receive is not yet known, but like CFAP #1, version #2 will offer direct payments to producers.
According to the President, “Starting next week, my administration is committing an additional... $13 billion dollars in relief to help farmers recover from the China virus, including Wisconsin’s incredible dairy, cranberry, and ginseng farmers who got hurt badly.”
The funds will come out of the Commodity Credit Corporation with money allocated in the CARES Act earlier this year.
