Prevention Is Key In Fight Against ASF

South Korea has joined eight other Asian countries with African Swine Fever. So far the country has reported 2 cases near the border with North Korea. National pork board director of swine health programs Dr. Patrick Webb says the new cases highlight the need to ramp up prevention efforts in the U.S.

” For our pork producers out there, prevention is number one. We have got to focus on bio security and that’s making sure we harden our target here in the United States and making sure our farms are as secure as they can be”

One way to improve bio security is to stay educated. Resources for producers, veterinarians, packers, and local governments are available at Pork.org/fad and at securepork.org.
