Proceed with Caution: Hay scams are on the rise

Drought conditions have caused many issues for producers including hay supplies. That has caused prices to rise, which in return has increased the number of reported hay scams.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture says if you are on the lookout for hay, proceed with caution. If you have a feeling that the deal is fishy, avoid it.

With current conditions, you should test all hay before using it as feed.
