Those in the central part of the United States, from the Dakotas all the way down to Texas, will have the best views of a Quadrantid meteor shower that is expected to Friday night into early Saturday morning.
“All signs are pointing toward a dazzling display in the sky as long as Mother Nature cooperates,” AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Lada told USA Today.
The shower is expected to peak around 2 a.m. on Saturday and last until dawn. During its peak, up to 200 meteors an hour will be visible if conditions are perfect.
According to Accuweather, the meteors will originate from the Big Dipper and shooting stars will be visible throughout the sky.
The Quadrantids are known for being bright fireballs and the fireballs offer a larger explosion of light and color than the average meteor.
For those who really want to get the most out of the meteor shower it is recommended you let your eyes adjust for about 30 minutes.
