Reaching more beef consumers through virtual communication

If this year has shown us anything, it is that communications technology has rapidly advanced. Specifically, the beef industry is seeing great success reaching consumers through Zoom and other forms of online communication.

The Cattlemen’s Beef Board says that while 2020 has brought its challenges, the checkoff side has continued to keep beef front and center in consumers’ minds.

“We’ve got examples where we were conducting educational... training for educators, so that they can be teaching about beef to their students. Normally, we would be able to reach say 50 educators in one seminar when you’re all in a room, but by moving these online, we’ve been able to reach out to thousands of educators,” according to Greg Hanes.

He points to a survey showing that consumers are purchasing and eating beef more frequently and the number of consumers who eat beef once a week is increasing.
