The House Ag Committee Chair, Glenn GT Thompson co-sponsored a resolution of disapproval regarding the new Waters of the U.S. rule.
He says America’s producers deserve better.
""Farmers, ranchers, and landowners deserve a WOTUS definition that is fair to agriculture and maintains the historical reach of the Clean Water Act—neither of which is accomplished by this rule,” said Thompson.
The resolution opens a formal challenge to the rule through a congressional review. In December, EPA released the rule to redefine WOTUS under the Clean Water Act. It was the third time in 7 years the Agency attempted to rewrite the definition.
The Supreme Court heard arguments last year in a closely-watched WOTUS case. That decision is expected in the coming months.
