A team of Purdue researchers is developing a rapid test for ASF.
A professor received a million-dollar grant for the project, which was funded in the Farm Bill. He also developed similar tests for COVID-19 and bovine respiratory disease.
It uses a saliva or blood sample and a paper strip and can detect the virus within 30 minutes.
If the strip changes colors, ASF DNA is present.
