WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD NEWS) — A number of federal reports released this week captured the attention of agricultural markets, but risk managers say producers should avoid becoming too focused on individual data releases.
Heather Ramsey says farmers cannot control how outside market participants react to government reports, but they can control their own marketing strategies.
“We can definitely control the details that go into the marketing plan on our end,” Ramsey said.
She says risk management is about identifying the factors producers can control and taking action when market opportunities align with their plans.
Ramsey also encourages farmers to remain consistent throughout the growing season and avoid making emotional marketing decisions based on short-term market movements.
