NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) The 2017 Kentucky Derby will be the 143rd Run for the Roses and is set to start in just two weeks.
Contenders Tapwrit and Irap will be making their ways to the starting gate on the first Saturday in May.
Tapwrit is a three year old colt by champion sire Tapit and was purchased for $1.2M in Kentucky. One of his recent notable wins was at the Tampa Bay Derby, as he made another step forward on his way to Churchill Downs.
Son of Tiznow, three year old colt Irap is near the top of the ranks as we inch closer to May 6. Trained by Doug O’Neil, the bay colt put on a shocking performance at Keeneland earlier this month, winning the esteemed Toyota Blue Grass Steaks.
