Rock Legend Tom Petty Dead at 66

Legendary rocker, Tom Petty, died today at the age of 66. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was found Sunday night in his Malibu home, in full cardiac arrest and not breathing. According to, EMT’s found a pulse, but the hospital found no brain activity when he arrived and the decision to pull life support was then made.

Born in Gainesville, Florida on October 20, 1950, Petty quit high school to pursue music and never looked back. With his band the Heartbreakers, Petty recorded several iconic hits including “Refugee,” “Runnin’ Down the Dream,” “You Don’t Know How it Feels,” “American Girl,” “Wreck Me” and more. Just this summer, he and the band wrapped a tour marking the band’s 40th anniversary.
