The town of Perryton, Texas, is reeling from storms Thursday night that wiped out a large portion of the town.

Perryton is a rural community in the northeast panhandle, about 7 miles south of the Oklahoma state line. There are reports of three deaths and dozens of injuries, and most of the town is without power. It is a ranching community, and we have seen reports of damage to at least one operation.

According to Perryton Fire EMS, the tornado was a quarter-mile wide and was on the ground for a mile.

RFD-TV has been in contact with the Texas Agriculture Commissioner’s office and the Texas Farm Bureau; we will update you when more information is available.
