Scientist develop edible food packaging

The packaging around some of your food could soon be a part of the meal as well. Scientists around the world have created edible food films that almost fully dissolve within 24 hours.

They incorporated a food additive made from seaweed that is normally used as a “thickener.”

When they added an antioxidant, the product became strong, homogenous, and actually lengthened shelf life, and no special equipment is required. The scientists say that the film can be made by food products and films manufacturers.
