Sec. Vilsack visits union workers picketing against John Deere in Iowa

Secretary Vilsack visited Deere and Company employees on the picket lines.

Iowa Starting Line posted a video as he stopped by the plant in Ankeny, Iowa. 10,000 union workers have been on strike for eight days now, with workers fighting for higher pay and better benefits.

During his visit, Vilsack said, “Far too long in this country, we haven’t paid as much attention and respect to people who work with their hands, and build and construct and make. As President Biden would say, ‘This country is built by folks like you.’”

For now, there does not appear to be an end in sight, but an Iowa judge granted a temporary injunction against the workers that prohibits them from picketing on Deere’s property at the Davenport facility.

They also cannot picket in groups larger than four at each gate.
