The U.S. Mexico Canada Trade Agreement officially took effect July 1.
The deal replaces the outdated North American Free Trade Agreement. It is something Senator Chuck Grassley says need a revision. Changes include new export opportunities to sell dairy and poultry, and a level playing field for importing wheat into Canada.
“This new agreement will provide certainty to our farmers and ranchers and update NAFTA in other important areas. I’ve already mentioned digital economy, but also customs, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and technical standards, and it even helps on intellectual property,” Grassley said. “Entering into the force will make a new era of our commercial relationship with Canada and Mexico.”
