Senate Republicans have laid out their framework for a Farm Bill, highlighting their priorities for support of the ag sector and rural communities.
The framework outlines enhancements to risk management tools for fathers, with the goal of helping them handle economic challenges and uncertainties more effectively. This includes proposals for increasing reference prices for covered commodities and improving crop insurance coverage and affordability.
It also includes:
- Global competitiveness, increasing funding for trade programs to bolster U.S. agricultural exports.
- Rural development, such as investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and services to support rural communities.
- Tackling nutrition. The plan put forward by ranking member John Boozman would return SNAP to a cost-neutral process and would crack down on over payments of benefits.
