Senator Grassley: Farmers deserve a five-year Farm Bill

Congress has had a lot on its plate this month, like keeping the USDA and FDA running and passing a budget for the fiscal year. However, Senator Chuck Grassley says attention also needs to be on the Farm Bill.

“I wish I could give you a more up-to-date, but I haven’t heard from the chairwoman or ranking member of the Agriculture Committee on the Farm Bill since early December. If we don’t have a Farm Bill text by late spring, it’s unlikely that we’ll get a Farm Bill this year. Iowa farmers deserve the stability of a five-year Farm Bill and the clock is, of course, ticking.”

Congress has until September to pass or extend the 2018 Farm Bill.
