Several Oklahoma livestock auctions to close due to coming cold and snow

The cold and snow has caused cattle auctions in Oklahoma to shut down.

Fairview, Woodward, and the Mid America Livestock Market in Bristow closed this week.

Next week, closures include the Oklahoma National Stockyards, OKC West and Joplin, Missouri.

Auction staff say that it is not humane to subject cattle to that much cold stress, and they consider trucks getting stranded in the snow. Most of the “Sooner State” could see up to a foot of snow with two feet in some areas.
