Sheep Producers Gather to Promote the Industry

Wool growers across the U.S. recently gathered in Montana. They’re looking back on the year, as many prepare for another season. Western ag network’s Russell Nemetz was there as the new President of Montana Wool Growers Association, Scott Blackman, laid out his priorities, which include funding for wildlife services as part of an effort to reduce predation on sheep herds, encouraging involvement from smaller producers, and, or prime importance, supporting the American Sheep Industry Association’s call for a Section 201 trade investigation into injury caused by lamb imports.

On the national level, sheep producers from across the west and beyond will be headed for Reno, Nevada in late January for the American Sheep Industry Association‘s 2026 annual convention.
