In what will be one of Sonny Perdue’s final speeches as Ag Secretary, he addressed the members of the American Farm Bureau preparing them for when he leaves office.
“You know that you have a powerful voice and it is much more important now than ever to use and influence policy makers,” he states. “When I became Secretary, I made it my goal to leave the USDA better than I found it-- to have the most efficient, effective and customer focused agency in the federal government. I sure hope we’ve lived up to that mission through your eyes.”
The Secretary highlighted that the USDA provided $34 billion dollars in aid to farmers last year from COVID. He also pushed to expand markets with other regions like Africa, southeast Asia, and the United Kingdom to help sell more U.S. products and put U.S. ag first.
