States will have time to incorporate conservation updates

States will have some time to incorporate the updates USDA has made to National Conservation Practice Standards.

Acting NRCS Chief Kevin Norton says that the changes are being published now and will be available for states to pick up and incorporate into field office technical guides.

“For those standards, the states typically will already have irrigation water management standards in place,” he states. “This does not force them to change that existing standard or disrupt any work going on with producers.”

There will be a twelve month time frame where standards will be adjusted and delivered for use by each state’s conservation office.
