A Minnesota teenager made the most of the state’s deer rifle opener last weekend.
Nineteen-year-old Pierce Pennaz, who has down syndrome, had “perfect hit” on a six-point buck from 120 yards away. It was his first ever.
“I had no idea where it came from. All I know is I said, ‘Pierce, there’s a buck,’” his father Steve told WCCO.
Pierce was able to partake in the hunt thanks to an apprentice program that allows beginners to hunt with a parent or guardian for two years.
“I woke up Sunday morning and I admit I was crying,” Steve said. “I just said what an amazing experience, and what an amazing young man.”
