The title of “Youngest Member of Congress” now goes to a North Carolina man.
You may remember seeing 25 year old Madison Cawthorn at the Republican National Convention.
He got out of his wheelchair and took a stand for the American flag. Cawthorn was paralyzed from the waist down in a car crash when he was 18.
The convention video tugged at a lot of heartstrings. He will now fill the seat once held by Mark Meadows, who is now President Trump’s Chief of Staff.
In an interview this morning, Cawthorn said his family held hands and prayed when the race was called. Earlier, he told the Smokey Mountain News that agriculture voters have changed his mind about work visas for immigrants.
Following the election, Madison took to Facebook saying, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you. All glory goes to God and I am excited to serve each and every member of this district. Thank you!”
