Idaho Congressman unveils plan to breach dams, save Pacific Northwest salmon

An Idaho congressman unveiled a plan to breach dams and save Pacific northwest salmon.

Mike Simpson’s $33 billion dollar plan would remove four hydro-electric dams in the northwest and replace their power with renewable batteries, modular reactors, or other sources.

It would be a step toward President Biden’s transition to clean energy.

However, Simpson has to get approval from Republicans first. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris calls the dams the “beating heart of eastern Washington,” but supporters say the proposal could lead to real change.
