Canadian Lumber Worries

Canada is challenging the US tariffs on softwood lumber. Last month, the Commerce Department said it would impose am 18% tariff on most Canadian imports sold in 2019 and used mostly in housing construction. The Canadian Trade Minister says the new tariffs represent a doubling of current levies in the softwood-trade row and claims it harms both Canadian producers and US consumers.
