Two more cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been found in wild birds.
One is in South Carolina and the other on the coast of North Carolina.
This follows last week’s discovery which was the first case in six years. USDA says that they expect to continue finding cases and that producers should tighten up biosecurity.
According to Dr. Rosemary Sifford with APHIS, “Try to make sure that you don’t have any gaps that might inadvertently allow someone to bring the virus into your facility.”
If you own a flock, it is recommended to tighten your biosecurity practices and prevent contact with wild birds.
