N. Dakota waives hours of service requirements for milk truck drivers

North Dakota is taking emergency measures to resolve the truck driver shortage that is affecting milk distribution.

An executive order waives the hours of service requirements for a month for trucks hauling milk. Some licensing requirements have been suspended until April.

The governor and Ag Commissioner say that milk logistics have put more than 50 school districts “at-risk” of losing deliveries.

This comes after one major distributor in North Dakota went out of business partially due to a lack of drivers.
