Judge Rules Louisiana Label Censorship Law Unconstitutional

A judge has ruled a meat labeling law in Louisiana violates free speech because it bans words like “burger” and “sausage” on plant-based products.

The lawsuit was brought by Tofurky, and calls the ruling a win for the entire plant-based industry.

In his decision, the district judge said the defendant failed to address why less-restrictive measures would not accomplish the same goal. Similar laws in other states also face legal challenges.
