OSU athletes are adding beef to their playbook

Athletes at the Oklahoma State University recently learned about the health benefits of adding beef to your diet.

The Build Your Base with Beef Program is what the Oklahoma Beef Council calls a ‘game-changing’ nutrition tool for athletes. The program allows athletes to improve their performance while showcasing the nutritional benefits of beef, according to the Oklahoma Farm Report.

Through the program, the council taught the students how to use modular meal planning to maximize nutrition. Modular meals pair a protein, like beef, with fruits or vegetables and a high-fiber carbohydrate. The students also learned that beef provides optimal protein, iron and zinc for their diets.

OSU is the first program in Oklahoma to use the program.
