Stranded livestock ship returns to Australia after more than a month at sea

An update now on thousands of sheep and cattle stranded on a returned export ship, after more than a month at sea.

The ship was stuck after being forced to abandon a Red Sea passage due to threats of attacks. The vessel, carrying 15,000 live animals, was left adrift off the coast as exporters deliberated their next steps.

Tragically, 60 sheep and four cattle died onboard during the ordeal.
However, despite concerns about their treatment, the Australian government and industry assert the livestock are in good condition.
