Suicide Prevention Bill receives bi-partisan endorsement

Congress makes mental health in rural America a top priority. They’re considering the ‘Seeding Rural Resilience Act’, which is a bi-partisan bill. It addresses the 45 percent higher suicide rate for rural America.

According to the Hagstrom Report, the Blue Dog Coalition endorsed the bill, which co-chair Anthony Brindisi says “will ensure all farmers have better access to mental health care”

The bill will create a stress management employee training program, create a 3 million dollar public service announcement to raise awareness and de-stigmatize mental health care, and determine the best practices for responding to rural mental stress.
