The Surface Transportation Board has just approved the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merger.

The $31 billion deal will take effect in one month and the company will be subject to a seven year oversight period, which is unprecedented.

The new company will be called Canadian Pacific Kansas City and STB says it will improve grain shipping across the United States.
