Taken to Court: Farmers join class-action lawsuit against John Deere

Nine farms across the nation have joined a class-action lawsuit against John Deere over their right to repair.

Each case alleges John Deere violated the Sherman Act and is seeking damages for farmers who paid for dealership repairs starting in January of 2018.

The plaintiffs say Deere monopolized the repair service market with onboard central computers, also known as ECU’s.

Bills have been filed in at least 32 states over the right to repair ag equipment. John Deere says they have provides customers with all the tools and training needed to complete some repairs themselves.
