Taxing capital gains at death would be extremely harmful to family operations, according to one expert

Ag groups voice concern over proposals to eliminate stepped-up bases and impose capital gains taxes at death, highlighting the devastating impact it could have on farm and ranch families.

American Farm Bureau Federation’s Pat Wolff speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the discrepancies with these proposals, how it would impact families, and what they are asking from lawmakers.

“There is a huge spending spree going on in Washington DC, and those that are spending the money want to pay for it by increasing taxes,” according to Wolff. “One of the ideas that they have would be very harmful to farmers and ranchers, and that would be collecting capital gains taxes at death...”
