Team YETI’s Fred ‘Boom Boom’ Roumbanis Gears Up for the MLF Summit Cup

Longtime MLF pro angler Fred “Boom Boom” Roumbanis shares how he and Jeff Sprague of Team YETI are preparing for the Team Series Summit Cup.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (RFD-TV) — We are now just two days away from the Summit Cup — the high-stakes finale of the Major League Fishing Team Series.
Ahead of the big event, longtime MLF pro angler Fred “Boom Boom” Roumbanis of Arkansas joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to share how he is preparing for the cup and what fans can expect from the fourth and final event of the MLF Team Series.

In his interview with RFD-TV News, Roumbanis reflected on his season so far, discussing his experience competing in Major League Fishing and how his skill set — particularly his reputation as one of the most knowledgeable swimbait anglers in the sport — has shaped his year. He also talked about his fall fishing strategy, noting how cooling water temperatures affect fish movement and why techniques like frog fishing can change dramatically this time of year.

With the Summit Cup held at an undisclosed location near Shreveport-Bossier City, La., anglers will not know which lake they will fish until the morning of the competition. Roumbanis shared how he prepares for these unique events, relying on fundamentals, versatility, and years of experience to build a game plan on the fly.

He will be competing as part of Team YETI, paired with fellow pro angler Jeff Sprague. Roumbanis described how the two complement one another on the water and how teamwork plays a significant role in a format that requires anglers to adapt quickly.

Originally from the West Coast, Roumbanis also touched on the move that brought him to Arkansas — a decision shaped largely by his passion for bass fishing and the region’s competitive opportunities.

As teams arrive Saturday and wait for their official lake assignment, Roumbanis said he is looking forward to the surprise, the competition, and the chance to close out the season strong when the Summit Cup begins on Sunday.
