Texas Governor Abbot relaxes border inspections

Texas Governor Greg Abbot has partially relaxed border inspections.

Truckers have reported delays all week as they try to haul imports, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The governor says that the stepped-up inspections are an effort to curb illegal immigration because the federal government is not stopping it.

These trucks have already been cleared by Customs and Border Patrol. Mexico has now agreed to increase security on its side of the border, so Gov. Abbott will ease the inspections. Trade groups say that the traffic jams have caused millions of dollars in damage to ag goods.
